Jenny Berkel has a unique sound that shines on her latest single ‘Just Like A River’. Driven by its lyrics (it was originally conceived as a poem), the track is able to feel both like an intimate ballad and an expansive sonic experience. She touches on the fraility and non-linear nature of the passing of time while comabination of acoustic guitars, pianos and strings support her airy lead vocals with a nostalgic folkishness. “It wasn’t until shortly before we went into the studio that I wrote the poem that became this song,” she explains. “Once there, it became something quite expansive. I wanted the album to have sonic spaces for a listener to get a bit lost in, so we played this one until it felt right to stop."
